DESCRIPTION OF THIS PAINTING:

Often my works are travel inspired, these two paintings are a deconstruction of my trip to Venice, Italy, Burano and Murano a few years ago. A ‘floating city’ of canals, history, vibrant colours and surprise. My colour palette consisted of deep turquoise, gold, bronze, coral, cadmium red, light blue and yellow. Each paintings are layers of shapes and texture that reflect the brightly coloured fishermen’s houses in Burano, the shimmering water from the lagoons, the hand crafted glistening Murano glass and the richness of the Venetian masks. As we are currently in a lockdown I hope these paintings give you a glimpse of Venice. If you ever get a chance it is a must see destination.
